Jackets at The "U"

by admin on September 16, 2009

Last week: Great win for the Jackets last Thursday night.  It’s rare that a team has a 24 point lead and yet has to rally to win.  Hopefully there was a lesson learned somewhere in the locker room.  I’m sure that Coach Johnson took care of it.
This week: Tech has another Thursday night game, this time against the Miami Hurricanes.  Miami (or simply The U if you are hip) is one of those programs where an impressive win is an automatic indication that the team has returned to glory years.  At least that’s how the sportswriters see it.
Exhibit A: Miami beat Florida State 38-34 in their first game.
Exhibit B: Miami is now ranked #20.
Exhibit C: Miami is favored by 4.5 points over the Jackets.
Speaking of glory years, Miami will honor former QB Gino Torretta since he has been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.  Torretta was also the fastest player to make the list of Where Are They Now as his pro career was nearly non existent.
Prediction: I think we will have a high scoring and close game.  The Jackets will need to pressure QB Jacory Harris and DE Derrick Morgan can’t do it by himself.  Close games come down to special teams which is a weakness for the Jackets.  If Blair makes a 40+ yard field goal, the Jackets win.  He won’t.  Hurricanes 35-34.

Damn Glad!
