Jackets take on UGA

by admin on November 25, 2008

Gentlemen – Please have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.  Hopefully the Jackets can bring the smack down on the mutts this weekend.  Go Tech!

Georgia Tech (8-3) at Georgia (9-2)
November 29, 2008

The Jackets were impressive against the Hurricanes last Thursday. We rushed for 472 yards which is the most that Miami has given up in a game since 1940. The win kept us in the hunt for the ACC Championship game and got us back in the top 25. If Virginia can win at Virginia Tech next Saturday, Tech heads to Tampa to take on Florida State or Boston College.

If you ask Tech fans to choose, the majority will say that they would prefer a win over Georgia rather than an ACC Championship. Losing 7 in a row is one reason. Having to read about your bitter rival everyday in the paper is another. Throw in a redneck with a bulldog painted on his head and you have more than enough to work with. Georgia sees this game as a nuisance since they win it so many times. They hate Florida more because they can’t beat them. Florida is to Georgia as Georgia is to Tech.

Georgia began the year ranked #1. Apparently there is only one way to go from the top. They were surprised at home by Alabama and Florida whipped them in Jacksonville. UGA needed late plays and scores to sneak by Kentucky and Auburn. The SEC is not as strong as people projected however (see LSU’s struggles against and Ole Miss). Georgia’s offense can be impressive and might be the best we face this year. QB Stafford, RB Moreno and WR Green are very good. However, their offensive line is young and depleted due to injury. Georgia’s defense is unimpressive and has given up more than 30 points four times this season.

Line: Georgia favored by 9.5

Prediction: In Georgia’s last two games against Kentucky and Auburn, they played with a lack of interest until the 4th quarter. If they are preparing for the option based spread with that same lack of interest, they will dig too big of a hole for their offense to get them out.

Tech 38 – Georgia 24

Damn Glad!
